Prince William Calls for End to Gaza Fighting

Royal Intervention

Prince William Makes Unprecedented Statement

In an unprecedented royal intervention, Prince William last night called for an end to the fighting in Gaza. The Prince, who is currently carrying out visits intended to recognize the human suffering and devastation caused by the conflict, made the impassioned plea in a statement released from the British Red Cross HQ in London.

Prince William took part in a video link with Red Cross staff working in Gaza, where he heard firsthand accounts of the suffering and loss caused by the ongoing violence.

In a rare statement on the Middle East, the UK's Prince William called for the hostages held in Gaza to be released and for an end to the indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. "I am deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the increasing number of civilian casualties," he said.

Britain's Prince William on Tuesday called for an end to the fighting in Gaza, where he said too many innocent people were being killed. Prince William's dramatic statement calling for an end to the war in Gaza on Tuesday dismayed Israeli officials, who accused him of ignoring Hamas's use of civilians as human shields.
