Wolves draw first blood vs Nuggets
Minnesota takes the first game of the Western Conference Semifinal Series
DENVER – The Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, overpowered the Denver Nuggets 117-90 on Tuesday night to take a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves with 29 points, while Towns added 26 points and 14 rebounds. Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 24 points, while Nikola Jokic added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Timberwolves jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 30 points in the second half.
The Nuggets were unable to find their footing offensively, shooting just 37.6% from the field. They also turned the ball over 14 times.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, shot 50.6% from the field and turned the ball over just eight times.
Game 2 of the series will be played in Denver on Thursday night.
